Dr. Leslie Pollard, President of Oakwood University in Alabama, addresses members of the Black Business and  Professional Association (BBPA) and their guests at the BBPA’s 18th annual  tribute  to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the late civil rights leader on Saturday.

In his message at the McVey Centre in Toronto, Dr. Pollard said that there is ” no forward movement without action.”

Part of the legacy of Dr. King Jr., he said,  is “to be passionately, committedly. ardently active but at the same time non-violent.”

Quoting from Dr. King Jr., he told the audience: ” True peace is not the absence of  conflict but the presence of justice.
