Steelband, mas’ and ‘doubles’ greet visitors arriving in Trinidad for carnival

Caribbean Airlines (CAL) which will operate over 250 international and regional flights, bringing  approximately 30,000 passengers to Trinidad and Tobago for Carnival 2017, kicked off its “Welcome to the Warmth of the Islands “presentation on Friday at Piarco International airport as part of its annual Carnival Customer Appreciation.

Passengers travelling to Trinidad on CAL flights from New York, Toronto, Grenada, Barbados and Georgetown were  welcomed at  the airport by Caribbean Airlines’ Invaders Steel Orchestra, old time Carnival characters-among them Dame Lorraine and Moko Jumbies, host Patrick ‘Hypeman’ Alexis and a live DJ.

Passengers also received complementary samples of Trinidad and Tobago’s popular fast food, “doubles,” and the traditional “Red” soft drink, as well as Carnival Care packages, which included ‘Carnival Safety Tips’ provided by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.

Some passengers won airline tickets and passes to Carnival parties and events.

CAL’s Senior Marketing Manager, Alicia Cabrera, who was at the airport  to welcome visitors said, “Caribbean Airlines’ focus is on an enhanced travel experience for our valued customers and the ‘Carnival welcome’ is one of the key events on our Customer Appreciation calendar.

“We recognize that Carnival is an event which draws thousands of visitors to Trinidad and Tobago, and we want to ensure that they are greeted with warmth and hospitality on arrival to the home of Carnival.”

Officials of the Tourism Development Company of Trinidad and Tobago (TDC) were also at the airport to promote the company’s new tourism app – “Go Trinbago.”
