Randell Adjei, Andre De Grasse among inductees in Sept. 15 ceremony

Ten new stars will be laid on The Scarborough Walk of Fame in a Sept. 15 ceremony to honor many of Scarborough’s finest community contributors.

The induction will be a highlight of a whole day of entertainment and festivities at Scarborough Town Centre, home to the walk of fame in the centre’s northwest main floor court.

It’s our first induction since 2018 and we’re excited to provide an in-person induction featuring all of the honorees,” said SWOF chair Marg Middleton.

Here’s a list of the stars to be inducted:

• Randell Adjei (Arts and Culture) Ontario’s first poet laureate
• Shawn Allen (Business) President and Founder of Matrix Mortgage Global and Matrix Cares Foundation
• Glenn DeBaeremaeker (Community) Long-time resident and supporter
• Andrew Arifuzzaman Chief Administrative Officer University of Toronto Scarborough campus
• Ronald Nelson (Entertainment) Built Canada’s first hip hop studio in Scarborough; owner and operator of Reggaemania.com
• Gerry Dee (Entertainment) Multiple-award-winning comedian, actor and author; Host of Family Feud Canada
• Andrew LenFni (Environment) Toronto Zoo director of wildlife and science emeritus
• Dr. Paul Caulford (Health and Science) Founder of the Canadian Centre for Refugee and Immigrant Health Care and a long-time Scarborough family physician
• Andre DeGrasse (sports) First Canadian sprinter to win three medals in a single Olympics and namesake of the Andre De Grasse Family Foundation
• Natalie Spooner (Sports) Winner of Olympic Gold and World Championships as part of the Canadian Women’s Hockey team.

Walk of Fame members are honoured by a star in a court on the main floor of the Scarborough Town Centre. The induction, to be held in two ceremonies during the day, will be surrounded by a diverse slate of performances and activities, showcasing the diversity of Scarborough’s talent scene.

“Scarborough is home to leaders in their field whether it’s science, scholas?cs, medical achievement, sports, entertainment, community or other industries. The Scarborough Walk of Fame gives profiles to people who should be known and stories that should be told. We can’t stress enough how important our community commitment is and how proud we are to be a partner of the Scarborough Walk of Fame, ” commented Frank DameMo, General Manager

Marg Middleton, Scarborough Walk of Fame Chair, added, “These inductees will add to our fine history of being home to some of the finest contributors in local they are, and best of all – We are proud of their work national and and international affairs in the country proud of their Scarborough attachment.”
