MONTREAL – The 34th Just for Laughs festival will be closing with a bang, and perhaps a hip check or two.
P.K. Subban will once again be going where no Montreal Canadien has gone before, and the stalwart Habs defenceman could be on the offence when he hosts a Just for Laughs charity gala Aug. 1 at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier of Place des Arts.
All proceeds raised from the P.K. Subban All-Star Comedy Gala will be donated by the P.K. Subban Foundation to the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation.
No details are available yet as to which all-star comics will join Subban on stage.
The rumour mill is rife with trade talk before his no-trade clause kicks in July 1 but Subban clearly isn’t letting the speculation get to him, partaking in all that the city has to offer.
He has already signed on to participate in a charity basketball game with rapper Snoop Dogg June 11 at Verdun Auditorium in conjunction with Grand Prix festivities. Subban and Snoop will be captains of two hoops squads, made up of all-stars from the worlds of showbiz and sports.
Funds raised will be shared by Subban’s Montreal Children’s Hospital foundation and Snoop’s Youth Football League foundation.
Subban has a bit of experience at Just for Laughs: during a 2014 gala, he came out to fill a replica of the Stanley Cup with beer so host Seth Rogen could fulfil a dream of drinking out of the trophy.
