Nominations for Caribbean/Black Impact Awards closes in 3 Days

 

 

The Caribbean Camera and the Black Indigenous Business Development Association (BIBDA) will present the first annual Caribbean/Black Impact Awards at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto on November 20.

It will celebrate the achievements of outstanding Caribbean and Black people in Canada.

Organizers of the event are now seeking nominations for the awards in various categories.

The nomination process is open to all interested persons and/or organizations in the Black and Caribbean communities.

The following are the categories for which nominations may be submitted:

Arts & Culture

Clubs and individuals who empower and develop arts and culture in the community, including supporting artists and performers, celebrating our culture, and helping to provide public programs such as festivals, events, music, film, performing arts and the presentation of literature.

 

 

Entertainer of the year

Dancers, Actors, Musicians and all other performers will be celebrated for their work over the years.

Community Organization

Clubs, houses of worship, and/or individuals who have rallied together to support our community for a variety of worthy causes.

Education

Persons providing support for learning, education and vocational training across all age groups that enhance the lives of those in our communities.

Health Services

Organizations and individuals providing assistance, care, compassion and/or leadership to their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, natural disasters, floods, hurricanes, and earthquakes by supporting emergency and rescue services or supplies.

Sport

Clubs or individuals who make a positive impact in our communities by enabling and enhancing participation in and enjoyment of sport through the provision of facilities, training programs, financial support and/or the contribution of club staff in assisting sporting groups.

Sport Teams and Individuals

Clubs or individuals who make a positive impact in our community through their sporting success in track and field, basketball, football, cricket or any other sport.

Mental Health

Persons or organizations that provide innovative approaches that support and improve mental well-being and inclusion by addressing the needs of our diverse communities.

Business Person of the Year (Individual male and female)

People from our community who have achieved success in the mainstream business community and have taken the time to be role models for the youth in our communities.

Carnival Arts (Individual or Group Award)

Individuals or groups who have made a significant contribution to the Caribana or Carnival parade over the years such designers, builders, bandleaders or those who have introduced new concepts that can help develop the art form.
