Marci Ien wins Toronto Centre for federal Liberals

Marci Ien, the Liberal candidate for Toronto Centre, won the evenings election in a seat that was vacated after the resignation of former finance minister Bill Morneau.

The federal Liberals have held on to the Ontario riding of Toronto Centre in Monday’s byelection, according to results from Elections Canada.

In Toronto Centre, Liberal Party candidate Marci Ien, a journalist, won with 42 per cent of the vote, against 32.7 per cent for Annamie Paul, Green Party candidate and leader. The NDP candidate, Brian Chang, placed third with 17 per cent, with all polls reporting.
