JN Money Services Limited, a subsidiary of the JN Group, has expanded its operations with a new office in Simcoe at 44 Peel Street. This move aims to provide enhanced services to the growing population of seasonal workers in the area. According to Horace Hines, General Manager of JN Money Services Limited, the decision was driven by the increasing number of seasonal workers, particularly Jamaicans and Mexicans, who require reliable remittance services.

“We have had a presence in Simcoe since 2003 through a partnership with an agency called Jay’s Consignment, popularly known as Miskellige,” Hines explained. “However, with the continued increase in the seasonal workers population, we felt it was necessary to place more focus on that location. Setting up our own managed store allows us to offer a greater level of service and a wider range of services to the community.”

Estimates suggest that approximately 800 Jamaicans and around 500 Mexicans reside in Simcoe during the peak season. This significant demographic necessitates the availability of efficient financial services to support their families back home. Hines mentioned that while the current focus is on Jamaicans, there is potential for expansion to serve other Caribbean communities, including Guyanese and Trinidadians.

JN Money is not only focusing on providing remittance services but also on financial education and support for seasonal workers. The company recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Jamaica Leisure and Service, a part of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security in Jamaica. This partnership aims to ensure that seasonal workers are properly informed and engaged, and it provides financial services that help them reach their financial goals, whether sending funds home for family support or savings.

In addition to its physical presence in Simcoe, JN Money offers services across Canada through its e-transfer platform and online platform, jnmoneyonline.com. “Wherever you are in Canada, you can transact with us via e-transfer or our online platform. For those having trouble with onboarding, they can visit our offices for verification,” Claude Thompson local manager noted. The new Simcoe office joins the existing locations in Brompton, Eglinton, and Scarborough, bringing the total number of JN Money outlets to four, along with 32 agents across the country.

The JN Group’s have also announced the “I Support Jamaica Fund” which Provides Hurricane Relief

The JN Group, through its subsidiaries JN Money Services Limited and JN Cayman, has launched the I Support Jamaica Fund to provide crucial support for Jamaicans impacted by Hurricane Beryl. The JN Foundation oversees the fund, which also receives backing from the governments of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. Donations will primarily aid in the recovery of schools and community spaces devastated by the hurricane.

The I Support Jamaica Fund complements other JN Group initiatives aimed at Hurricane Beryl recovery. These include the JN Bank ONE JN Hurricane Loan offers, available until August 31, and JN Money’s temporary waiver of fees on money transfers to Jamaica immediately before and after the hurricane. These efforts underscore JN Group’s commitment to supporting the Jamaican community in times of need, providing both immediate relief and long-term support for rebuilding efforts.

With its new office in Simcoe and its ongoing support for hurricane relief, JN Money Services Limited continues to demonstrate its dedication to serving the needs of the Caribbean community in Canada and beyond.
