Jamaica-born Fitzroy Gordon, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Toronto radio station CKFG-FM (G98.7), who has been a patient at the Sunnybrook Hospital for more than three weeks with” serious health challenges,” is now reported  to be ” improving” and  “out of critical care.”

Gordon is believed to have suffered a stroke though this has not been confirmed by his “partner,” Bishop Audley James of the Revival Tabernacle in Toronto, or anyone at the radio station which has made no announcement about his (Gordon’s) condition since he entered hospital.

Bishop James  told the Caribbean Camera on Tuesday night that he has been visiting Gordon at the Toronto hospital and he is improving.

He referred  the paper to Alicia Da Costa, manager, marketing and faith-based initiatives, at the station for more information about his (Gordon’s) condition. But  Da Costa could not be reached for comment.

Gordon who has not  hosted Grapevine, the station’s Sunday call-in program, for the last three weeks was said to have been in intensive care at the hospital.

Last Sunday Bishop James was reported to have appealed to his congregation to pray for Gordon.

In an exclusive story in The Caribbean Camera on August 31 last, Gordon, dismissed the idea that  G98.7 is in any imminent danger of losing the broadcasting license it was granted in June 2011 by the  Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC).

“I don’t see the station as being in danger of being removed by the CRTC,’’ he said.

According to the (CRTC) website, “Commission records indicate’’ that G98.7 “is in apparent non-compliance’’ with sections of the regulations under which it was given the license to operate the radio station.

Gordon, who also is manager of G98.7, admitted that the station has been non-compliant on some issues, but said that was “a while ago’’ and it is “old news.’’

The station’s license was “administratively renewed ” until August 31, 2018.
