Jamaica appoints new Regional Director of Tourism for Canada

Angella Bennett

Angella Bennett  has been appointed Regional Director of Tourism for Canada at the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB).

Bennett  who is now based in Toronto,  took up her new posting last week.

She brings more than 20 years of hospitality sales and marketing experience to the position, having worked extensively in several markets, including Canada, the US, Europe, Latin America and her native Jamaica.

“It is with great pleasure that we welcome Angella to the Jamaica Tourist Board team,” said Donovan White, Jamaica’s Director  of Tourism.

“Canada remains a vital market for Jamaica and we intend to aggressively push to increase our visitor arrivals from that country. Given her broad experience across the hospitality sector and her penchant for devising revenue generating strategies to increase sales, she is well suited to aid the JTB in achieving growth in this important region,” he noted.

In a brief  interview on Tuesday,  Bennett told the Caribbean Camera that her main focus at the present time ” is to grow the numbers of Canadian visitors to Jamaica.”

‘Last year we invited more than 400,000 Canadians to Jamaica.I have a mandate to grow this number by at least ten per cent and the only way we can grow this numbers is to grow the air seats.

“So we’ll be having some serious conversations with our partners in the tourist industry  to see how we can grow the air seats out of Canada, particularly Western Canada.”
