Nearly a thousand mas’ fans showed up at Parkview Manor in Toronto on Saturday for the launch of one of the bigger bands which will hit the streets for Toronto Caribbean carnival 2017.

It was   Jamaal Magloire’s Toronto Revellers or The People Band,  as Jamaal is fond of calling it, and  their  presentation of “MUSIC: Let The Rhythm Move You.”

The evening’s entertainment was hosted by Raptors Assistant Coach and Bandleader Jamaal Magloire with MC Giselle D’Wassi.

Keeping the torrid rhythms moving were two special guests who came from Trinidad specially to perform at the launch: Soca Monarch Aaron “Voice” St. Louis and Ronnie McIntosh. And they did not disappoint.

“Voice” sang the catchy numbers which won him the International  Soca Monarch title the last two years and  to the delight of the crowd, ended his performance with the popular Winner.

Earlier, McIntosh had  taken his audience on a ” back in time ” journey with some of his big hits, including Ent.

After the performances of the special guests came the costumes and the crowds could hardly wait to see what was in store for them for the 50th anniversary of Caribbean carnival in Toronto.

And what do you expect from a band that calls itself “Music”?

Among the ten sections are Classical – Tchaikovsky- ‘Winter Dream’ white and silver with crystal accents; Hip Hop – Drake ‘Hot Line Bling’ white, pink with gold gems and denim accents; Reggae – Bob Marley ‘One Love’ Red, green and yellow;  Calypso- Mighty Sparrow  ‘Nice Senorita’  coral, yellow, peach with gold.

And there were lots more –  from simple costumes to the elaborate outfits fit for a king and queen – or several kings and queens.
