
Police are searching for a man who fatally stabed the 58-year old volunteer caretaker of a Toronto mosque on Saturday.
Guyana-born Mohammed -Aslim Zafis was reported to have been outside the International Muslim Organization (IMO)) mosque controlling access to the building, when he was attacked by a man who ran away after stabbing him in the neck.
Witnesses called 911 and emergerncy services responded.
Zafis was pronouced dead at the scene.
The alleged assailant was described as ” a slim male wearing a black hoodie”
The mosque has been closed and the IMO said it will reopen when the police investigation is concluded and it is deemed safe for the congregation to return.
Police say that no evidence currently suggests the incident was hate-motivated,
