Conrad “Terry” Gibbs who served as Grenada’s Consul  General  in Toronto from 2002 to 2006, died at the  Scarborough General hospital on February 27 last. He was 76.

After graduating  from Presentation Boy’s College in Grenada, Gibbs went to  St.Lucia where he taught at St. Mary’s College.

He later earned a bachelor’s degree from Inter-American University in Puerto Rico, followed by a master’s degree from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from York University.

Gibbs was an economist with the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States  and the Ontario Government. He was also a lecturer  at Seneca College in Toronto.

In 2009, while in retirement, Gibbs was  diagnosed with dementia and in 2013 an annual fundraising  walk was established in his name with proceeds going to the Alzheimer  Society of Toronto. Last September the Gibbs Walk  raised  more  than $9,000.

Gibbs leaves his wife Annette, his  son, Khary and his wife, Kristy, and their three children, and his daughter, Asha.

A funeral  service for  Conrad “Terry” Gibbs will be held at Prince of Peace Church in Scarborough on Saturday.
