It continues to be the hopes and dreams of hundreds of our youths, those as young as eight years through to 18, who are not prodigies but have acquired their proficiencies in some art forms. They possess dynamic verve along with the burning desire to showcase their capabilities to friends and interested audiences.

These youth are no different in nature than seedlings with the expectations of being potted earlier than springtime, hope to blossom as soon as is possible. However, only a few enjoy that opportunity and fewer still get the encouragement and inspiration from rewards and recognitions of the patronages of a paying audience as occurred recently at Twilight restaurant in Scarborough.

These opportunities were given to a 5th group of our youth by Trinidad and Tobago cultural icon Joel Davis, known locally as Connector.

Davis has graced Toronto with his own calypso and soca performances since 1992 and is the reigning monarch since 2018.

At each of these annual multi-genre youth concerts, Davis presents each performer with a framed award along with a cash payment. He also presents several long time cultural advocates and sponsors with awards. It is hoped that our community assist in making this into a semi annual concert, which will either provide another showcase of similarly aged youth or another showcase of

youth selected from the previous years as they have matured in their proficiency

Congratulations to connector and may this project enjoy long life and continued success in the future.
