The famed waterfront of Burlington will be transformed with the sights, sounds and tastes of the Caribbean like they have never experienced before. Colours of Barbados will infuse Burlington’s waterfront with the best of Barbadian (Bajan) culture that includes art, food, and music on June 5-7, 2020. The three-day festival will be hosted at numerous waterfront locations, including Spencer Smith Park and the Joseph Brant Museum.

Known as one of the best cities in which to live in Canada, Burlington is readying itself for some great excitement. ‘Colours of Barbados’, a festival for the entire family.

“Burlington is an evolving community with an increasingly diverse population from all over the world, and residents who love to travel and explore different cultures. This festival is a great way to increase our exposure to the art, history, and stories of Barbados. I am thrilled to welcome organizers, performers, and attendees this summer to enjoy this unique event,” said Marianne Meed Ward, Mayor of Burlington.

There will be plenty of Bajan culture to savour at Colours of Barbados. Visitors will taste decadent and flavourful Bajan cuisine and take a culinary tour with celebrity Barbadian chefs. Creativity will be in abundance and splashed around. The festival will feature top Barbadian fashion designers and renowned visual artists. Attendees will dance to pulsating Bajan beats performed by some of Barbados’ best entertainers. Guests will also have the opportunity to shop at the Bajan marketplace.

Colours of Barbados is supported by the Government of Barbados, in partnership with the City of Burlington, Joseph Brant Museum, Art Gallery of Burlington, Barbados and Friends and Burlington’s own Caribbean Connections. The festival’s mission is to engage the residents of Burlington in promoting diversity through the festival and promote cultural exchanges between the city and the people of Barbados.
