Dianna Teresa Rosteing was born on May 2, 1950 in Georgetown Guyana and died January 26th, 2022 at the age of 71.

Dianna came to Canada in 1965 at the age of 15, settled in Toronto and later moved to Ajax where, after a prolonged illness, passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Hospital surrounded by her family.

She spent the greater part of her working life – over twenty years – as a public servant with in the Ontario Government. She retired six years ago, having held various Managerial positions, most recently as a Manager at the Consumer Protection Board.

She was active in the community both as a promoter and supporter of Caribbean culture. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening, music. She was an avid fan of the Toronto Raptors. For many years Dianna was a full-fledged member of the Caribana masquerade fraternity. With her son Dr Jay, she produced a band section under the banner of premier mas band Louis Saldenah Mas-K Club.

As a promoter she was known for the Big People Events like “Big People Fete, Big People Boat ride, Big People Parang, Mothers’ Day brunch and show.

Dianna leaves her behind mother, Vivien Whittaker, son Jay Rosteing, daughter-in-law Joanne Dominico, daughter Myana Rosteing, grandchildren, Jaylen Radix Rosteing, Faith Hermelijn, and Justin Rosteing, and ex-husband Mike Rosteing.

Born to Vivien Wagner and Claude Williams Georgetown, Guyana. Dianna immigrated to Canada at the tender age of 15 to start a new life with her mother and stepfather Frank Whittaker. She graduated from McMaster University, and held senior positions at American Express and the Ontario Government.

Dianna loved spending time in the kitchen, cooking up a storm with her ‘sweet hand’ for friends, family and even strangers. She took great pleasure in having people gather in her home to spend time chatting, laughing, “limin”, and bonding.

Affectionately known as “Lady Di” by many, she celebrated all things Soca, pan and carnival. There were always good vibes and music in her home.

A viewing will take place on Friday, February 4th at McDougal & Brown Funeral from 5:00-9:00PM. Registration is required: Visitation Registration Link

The funeral service is scheduled for 10:30AM on Saturday, February 5th, 2022 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church located at 1000 Ravenscroft Rd. Ajax ON. A private burial will follow. Live stream info TBD and updated here soon.
