The Black Opportunity Fund (BOF) is kicking off the new year with a groundbreaking collaboration as it teams up with Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Watch To Give Back’ initiative. This partnership, which began on January 3rd, will continue until the end of Black History Month on February 28th. Amazon Prime Video Canada has pledged to donate 100% of the proceeds generated from the rental or purchase of over 20 specially curated titles to support BOF’s mission of enhancing socio-economic outcomes for Black Canadians.

The handpicked titles, spanning a diverse range of genres and themes, shine a spotlight on the incredible talent and captivating stories within the Black community. These featured films include classics like “Malcolm X,” “The Color Purple,” and “Selma,” as well as recent hits such as “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” “King Richard,” and “Judas and the Black Messiah.”

The ‘Watch To Give Back’ initiative offers an unprecedented opportunity for viewers to contribute to BOF’s impactful work while enjoying compelling cinema that celebrates the depth and richness of Black narratives and talent. By renting or purchasing any of the selected films on Amazon Prime Video Canada during this period, viewers will directly support BOF’s efforts to improve the socio-economic prospects of Black Canadians.

BOF is dedicated to addressing systemic disparities and creating lasting change within the Black community by focusing on economic empowerment, education, and access to opportunities. Through this innovative partnership with Amazon Prime Video, BOF is making it easy for individuals to actively participate in their mission.

The ‘Watch To Give Back’ initiative is a commendable example of corporate social responsibility, harnessing the power of storytelling to promote positive social change. It is a reminder of the transformative impact that collaboration between the private sector and non-profit organizations can have on society.

As the partnership between BOF and Amazon Prime Video continues through Black History Month, it is a call to action for all viewers to engage with these powerful narratives, enrich their understanding of Black culture, and contribute to the betterment of Black Canadians’ lives.
