She hailed from Trelawny and he came outta Jeffrey Town, St. Mary, Jamaica, and they immigrated to Canada in the sixties, two souls who spent 48 glorious years together.
Fay Hyacinth Conville is remembered for her priceless work in Canada in the nursing field for close to 40 years as she volunteered with the Jamaican Canadian Association, JCA, John Brooks Community Foundation and Scholarship Fund, and P.A.C.E. (Canada) Adopt a Basic School Program with beloved husband Dr. Vincent Conville.
Fay was head nurse at Humber Memorial and an RN at York Central Hospital, her husband said. She was also chair of York Central Hospital United Way Fundraising Committee and Staff Relations Committee and a member of Richmond Hill United Church for over 40 years where she was part of the UCW and actively supported the Mission and Service Fund.
Her numerous voluntary awards included the JCA Lifetime Award and the 25-year Voluntary Service Award from the province.
The first of 10 siblings, Fay will be missed by Vincent, her son Stephen George Conville, daughter Erica Patricia Burgess, her daughter-in-law Monique Conville and numerous other relatives.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday (March 6) from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. at Richmond Hill United Church, 10201 Yonge St. Interment to follow at Elgin Mills Cemetery, 1591 Elgin Rd. E., Richmond Hill.
Covenant Funeral Homes Ltd. (Balmoral Chapel) said that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Jamaican Canadian Association Scholarship Fund (www.jcaontario.org), Fay’s Scholarship Fund and / or Richmond Hill United Church Mission and Service Fund.
