Black-led, Black-serving, and Black-focused community organizations across Canada are encouraged to apply for the TD Funded Black Opportunity Fund (BOF) grants program. The deadline for the application has been extended to Friday May 12, 2023. The program supports impactful initiatives in the areas of Criminal Justice and Arts & Culture.

BOF is offering grants in two program streams, namely Arts and Culture, and Criminal Justice, which align with its mandate areas. The grant stream applicants select should reflect the primary focus of their proposed project activities. Examples of primary focus issues are Mental Health and Well-being, Capacity Building (Arts and Culture), and Prevention and Reintegration (Criminal Justice).

To be eligible for the grant, your organization must be a “B3”: Black-led, Black-focused, and Black-serving organization. This means that at least two-thirds of your organization’s leadership must self-identify as Black, and a significant portion of your program activities must prioritize serving Black communities in Canada.

In addition to being a registered Canadian non-for-profit organization or charity, the applying organization must have an existing project in the areas of Arts & Culture or Criminal Justice that meets the grants program criteria, or a proposed project for which funding has already been secured. The organization must have an online web presence, such as a website or social media, and be able to provide up-to-date financial records, including audited financial statements or unaudited financial statements within the past two years, coupled with a tax return and/or bank statements. Finally, the applying organization must be able to provide a project budget for the initiative for which funding is being sought.
