Keeping the Carnival Alive

The Toronto Caribbean Carnival in partnership with Carib Beer and Wack Radio in San Fernando, Trinidad, will present First Lap: Keeping the Carnival Alive, a digital series previewing this year’s summer festival.
On April 11 at 7.pm., First Lap: Keeping the Carnival Alive will broadcast live on the Toronto Caribbean Carnival website, hosted by Itah Sadu, Earle La Pierre, Sheldon K. Francis (SKF the champ) and Kenny Phillip, says a news release from the Festival Management Committee (FMC), organizers of the Toronto Caribbean Carnival.
The event will also be streamed live on Facebook and WACK Radio YouTube Channel.

As the first show in the digital series, First Lap: Keeping the Carnival Alive will give viewers an “all-access pass” to the many elements of the Toronto Caribbean Carnival, featuring dynamite costume display, enchanting steelpan music and the showcasing of calypso and reggae music, the release notes.
It will feature live performances by Macomere FIFI, David Rudder, Connector, Dance Caribe and various pan artistes.
First Lap will also feature costumed models from Louis Saldenah Mas K Club, Carnival Nationz, Tribal Carnival, Toronto Revellers, Venom Mas’ and Epic Carnival.

“As Canada’s celebration of Caribbean Culture, we want to ensure that we keep the spirit of the festival alive. This event is about celebrating freedom and diversity, while reminiscing together from the safety and comfort of home, said Joe Halstead chairman of the FMC.
“The Festival Management Committee has reimagined the Toronto Carnival vibe, and is delivering it digitally to the world,” he remarked
