The Guyana men’s senior basketball team will be the highest ranked unit participating in the opening round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup – Americas Pre-Qualifier in El Salvador to be held April 14-18.
The competition schedule has been adjusted to allow for the completion of the FIBA Basketball Champions League Americas (BCLA) and to allow National Federations to field their best teams to participate in the first round of the Pre-Qualifier.
Guyana is grouped with host El Salvador along with Nicaragua and Costa Rica in the Round Robin-formatted tournament, that will see the top three teams advancing to the second round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup – Americas Pre-Qualifier in July 2021.
