Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Indian captain has been ruled out of the ongoning  tri-series  (Celkon Mobile Cup)  in the West Indies after he injured his right hamstring during the match against the West Indies last Sunday, at Sabina Park, Jamaica.

Dhoni suffered cramps whilst batting scored 27 off 35 balls as his team lost to the West Indies by one- wicket in a thrilling encounter.

Ravi Rampaul who missed the game against India due to a sprained ankle he suffered during the Windies opening  game against Sri Lanka has been replaced by young  Barbadian fast bowler Jason Holder. Holder made his debut for the West Indies on their limited-overs tour of Australia earlier this year and was also part of their ICC Champions Trophy squad in England recently but did not play in any of the games.

The Indian selectors  meanwhile  have named Baroda batsman Ambati Rayudu as Dhoni’s replacement. Rayudu who is yet to  debut for India in international cricket had a prolific domestic season in the Ranji Trophy and also in the Irani Cup this year.

Virat Kohli, who captained India in Dhoni’s absence in the second innings against the Windies will lead the team in the remaining matches while middle-order batsman Dinesh Karthik will take over the wicket-keeping duties.

The West Indies have won both of their games in Jamaica and will now move to Port-Of-Spain for the final leg of the tournament.

In the third match which was  played last Tuesday, Sri Lanka crushed India by 161 runs. Sri Lanka piled up a mammoth 348 for one wicket with centuries from U. Tharanga (174 n/o) and M. Jayawardene (107). India were dismissed for 187 in 44.5 overs.

The tourmanent moves to Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, with the following  matches scheduled to be played at the Queen”s Park Oval
