Justice Donald McLeod, founder of the Federation of Black Canadians, will deliver the keynote address at the second annual National Black Canadians Summit to be held Feb. 2 -4 in Ottawa.

In his address, titled ” Bringing the Canadian Judiciary into the 21st Century,” Justice McLeod will outline his vision for “an active judiciary combatting anti-Black racism.”
The Ottawa summit which will mark Black History Month and the International Decade for people of African descent (2014-2024), is organized by the Michaëlle Jean Foundation, in partnership with the Federation of Black Canadians and the Somali Centre for Family Services, along with several other organizations across Canada.
One of the organizers of the conference says this event will ” enable Black communities to raise awareness about major challenges they face and to open a national conversation on ways to enhance social cohesion, inclusive, equitable and sustainable development.”
The conference will be held at the National Arts Centre.
